Automated Flagger Assistance Device
Easy to tow, easy to set up, and as durable and hard-working as you are, the STS AFAD manages traffic in all kinds of environments while keeping flaggers off the roadway and out of harm’s way.
Use the TESS app to use AFADs in pilot-car mode, or manually control traffic from a safe vantage point.
The STS AFAD uses the same triple-redundant communications found on all our devices; not only is the wireless communication between STS AFADs and other traffic control devices incredibly reliable, it also means STS AFADs can be set up on long work zones – more than a mile from end-to-end.
Mini message boards inform motorists of wait times and other pertinent job information, and the breakaway gate arms add extra stopping power to 12-inch LED lights, which sit nearly 10 feet off the ground when the AFAD is deployed.

TESS Controller
For the first time, multiple competing brands of signals can communicate and be utilized as a functional system by making use of our LTC Retrofit option.
We can retrofit our technology to any temporary/portable signal, to give you the same features and services that are standard with STS brand signals. We’ll work with you to find the best fit possible for your needs.
Does your job need multiple phase and cycle intersections, but your current equipment is limited? The STS TESS Controllers extend your current capabilities to overcome those limitations.
We make it easy to use your equipment and supplement with our rental equipment. It’s no longer necessary to remain brand-specific.

Driveway Assistance Device
Control as many driveways and low-traffic side roads as you need with the STS DAD. Keep residents within the work zone from driving the wrong way as they enter the work zone. Now you can in-crease efficiency to the traveling public while saving precious real-estate over placing a full-size Portable Traffic Signal. And STS’s “tumble timing” ensures motorists entering from driveways and side roads wait the absolute minimum amount of time.
DADs are easily moved in place with the specialized towing trailer and the bottom-heavy design keeps the STS DAD upright in high winds. The extremely small footprint means the DAD can be placed almost anywhere.
With the solar panel the on-board batteries can run the STS DAD for weeks without charging – typically it runs for months! Like all STS traffic-control devices, the STS DAD is part of the triple-redundant communication network: cellular, Wi-Fi, and 900 MHz radio keeps communication open between all on-site devices 24/7.
